AAM and BBPOM Medan Collaborate to Strengthen Pharmacist Professionalism and Service Excellence

PT Anugrah Argon Medica (AAM), in collaboration with the Medan Regional Office of the Indonesian Food and Drug Authority (BBPOM Medan), organized a Technical Guidance Program titled “Transforming Professional Pharmacists: Integrity as the Foundation, Quality as the Standard” on June 9, 2026, at Four Points Hotel Medan.

The program brought together 106 pharmacists from community pharmacies across Medan and surrounding areas as part of a joint effort to strengthen professional competence, enhance service quality, and promote excellence in pharmaceutical care.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Mojaza Sirait, S.Si., Apt., M.M., Head of BBPOM Medan, expressed his appreciation for AAM’s initiative in creating an educational platform that fosters collaboration between regulators and pharmacy practitioners. He emphasized that such programs play a vital role in reinforcing pharmacists’ understanding of their strategic responsibility in safeguarding the safety, quality, and efficacy of medicinal products available to the public.

During his presentation, Mr. Mojaza highlighted the critical role of pharmacists as the frontline professionals responsible for ensuring the rational, safe, and compliant use of medicines. He also encouraged participants to continuously enhance their competencies, uphold professional ethics, and strengthen integrity in carrying out their professional duties and responsibilities.

“Integrity and quality are inseparable elements in delivering professional pharmaceutical services that prioritize patient safety,” said Mr. Mojaza.

In addition to discussing professionalism and integrity, the program also addressed the importance of responsible antibiotic use to combat Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR). Mrs. Christine Pakpahan, S.Si., Apt., M.Si., Coordinator and Head of the Drug Inspection Team at BBPOM Medan, explained that inappropriate antibiotic use remains a significant challenge that requires the collective attention of all healthcare stakeholders, including pharmacists who interact directly with patients and the wider community.

According to the Indonesia Health Survey 2023, approximately 41% of people in North Sumatra obtained antibiotics without a doctor’s prescription, while 57.7% acquired them through licensed pharmacies and drug stores. These findings underscore the important role pharmacists play in ensuring the rational use of antibiotics and educating the public about the risks associated with antimicrobial resistance.

Mrs. Endratri Retno Kiswati, Branch Manager of AAM Medan, stated that the collaboration with BBPOM Medan reflects the company’s commitment to supporting the development of pharmaceutical professionals while contributing to the advancement of healthcare services for the community

“Through our collaboration with BBPOM Medan, we aim to empower pharmacists to further strengthen their role as frontline healthcare professionals in ensuring the safe, rational, and compliant use of medicines. Professionalism and integrity are fundamental to maintaining public trust in pharmaceutical services,” said Endratri.

The event was also attended by Mr. Deni Fahrizal, Customer Relation Manager of AAM, representatives from GP Farmasi, the Regional Chairman of the Indonesian Pharmacists Association (IAI), and the Chairman of HISFARMA Medan.

As part of its ongoing commitment to advancing healthcare quality in Indonesia, AAM continues to collaborate with BPOM offices across various regions through educational and capacity-building initiatives designed to strengthen the competence of pharmaceutical professionals and enhance the quality of pharmaceutical services nationwide.
