To commemorate National Elderly Day, PT Medela Potentia Tbk through its CSR initiative Argon Peduli held a health screening event specifically for senior citizens on Wednesday, May 28th 2025, at the Tegaltirto Village Hall, Berbah Subdistrict, Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta.

This initiative provided 108 elderly participants with essential health services, including blood pressure monitoring, cholesterol and blood glucose testing, as well as free vitamin distribution and one-on-one medical consultations.

The program aimed to raise awareness around the importance of preventive health checks for non-communicable diseases (NCDs), which remain a significant concern among Indonesia’s aging population.

Conducted in collaboration with Indonesia Ramah Lansia (IRL) Yogyakarta, the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) of Yogyakarta City, and local village authorities, the event demonstrated the collective commitment to enhancing the quality of life for older adults in the region.

The event was attended by  Branch Manager of PT Anugrah Argon Medica (AAM) Yogyakarta, Mr. Yusmar Abdillah; Dr. Alikha from PMI Yogyakarta City; Muflih from IRL; Renanda Ghajjani from the Sleman Office of Women Empowerment, Child Protection, Population Control, and Family Planning; A. Ilyas from Tegaltirto Village; as well as PKK community health volunteers.

“Elderly health should not be overlooked, as they are a vital part of the foundation of both families and society. Through this initiative, we aim to encourage seniors to take better care of their health, while also inspiring the broader community to offer their support. Promoting a better quality of life for the elderly is a shared responsibility,” said Yusmar Abdillah

The company’s ongoing commitment to providing inclusive access to healthcare aligns with the government’s efforts to support a healthy elderly population, as echoed in this year’s National Elderly Day sub-theme set by the Ministry of Health: “Caring for the Elderly, Caring for the Nation.”

This sub-theme highlights the importance of maintaining elderly health and well-being as an integral part of national strength. It also serves as a reminder to all sectors of society to pay closer attention to the physical, mental, and social needs of the aging population.

According to the 2024 data from Indonesia Central Bureau of Statistics, approximately 12%—or 29 million—of Indonesia’s population are elderly, a figure expected to rise to 20% by 2045. Meanwhile, the 2023 Indonesia Health Survey (SKI) reported a growing prevalence of non-communicable diseases among the elderly, such as hypertension, diabetes, and stroke.

These conditions can significantly impact their independence, underscoring the urgent need for preventive and promotive efforts to safeguard elderly health and enhance their quality of life.
