PT Medela Potentia Achieves ESG Award for Sustainability Commitment

PT Medela Potentia and its subsidiaries have been honored with the prestigious ESG Award in the "ESG Recognizes Commitment" category from Investor Daily. The award was presented during the Investor Daily ESG Appreciation Night by BeritaSatu Editor-in-Chief, Mr. Syukri Rahmatullah, to PT Medela Potentia’s President Director, Mr. Krestijanto Pandji, at The Westin Hotel Jakarta on Monday, November 25, 2024.

The Investor Daily ESG Appreciation Night is an event recognizing companies that have successfully integrated environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles into their operations to ensure long-term sustainable business practices. Among the awardees were PT Medela Potentia, PT Freeport Indonesia, BNI, and Allianz.

The event was graced by distinguished attendees, including Indonesia's Minister of Environment, Mr. Hanif Faisol Nurofiq; B Universe Executive Chairman, Mr. Enggartiasto Lukita; Acting Deputy for Environmental Control and Pollution, Mr. Sigit Reliantoro; and Bumi Global Karbon Foundation (BGKF) Founder, Mr. Deni Daruri.

“We are deeply grateful for this recognition, which motivates us to further strengthen our commitment to sustainability. Through our ESG-driven approach, we believe we can make a meaningful contribution to the environment, society, and better corporate governance,” stated Mr. Krestijanto.

Minister Hanif Faisol Nurofiq commended companies that have embraced sustainability principles in their operations. “I extend my deepest appreciation to companies taking tangible steps to support sustainability,” he said.

He also highlighted the Ministry of Environment’s five key priorities, including transitioning to green energy to achieve net-zero emissions. Companies are encouraged to adopt low-carbon technologies and invest in renewable energy.

This aligns with PT Medela Potentia's and its subsidiaries’ commitment to reducing environmental impact through initiatives such as the 3R (Reuse, Reduce, Recycle) approach using reusable packaging, energy efficiency measures like installing energy-saving lighting, and waste management by providing waste storage containers across branches. The company also engages in tree-planting activities in its operational areas.

Additionally, PT Medela Potentia, through its subsidiary PT Anugrah Argon Medica (AAM), has pioneered the use of electric motorbikes in its operations, reducing fuel consumption by 9 percent.

“AAM aims to electrify its distribution fleet in 14 branches with 100 electric vehicles. This initiative is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 109.34 tons of CO2e,” revealed Mr. Krestijanto.

As part of its social responsibility, PT Medela Potentia runs various community programs under the Argon Peduli initiative, focusing on education and health. These include enhancing primary healthcare services, educating academics, providing scholarships for employees’ children, and organizing donations and health programs for underserved communities.

In corporate governance, PT Medela Potentia and its subsidiaries adhere to Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards to ensure transparency and accountability. Their reports cover aspects such as customer health and safety, economic performance, emissions, energy, customer privacy, and contributions to local communities.

This ESG Award marks the second consecutive year PT Medela Potentia has received such recognition, reinforcing its dedication to sustainability. The awards are organized by Investor Daily, a leading national media outlet serving as a key reference for Indonesia’s capital market, business, and economic communities.

Mr. Enggartiasto Lukita noted that ESG implementation has become a critical indicator for foreign investors when deciding to invest in a company. He emphasized the importance of events like the ESG Appreciation Night 2024 in boosting investor confidence.

“Likewise with investments, many are ready to flow, but they carefully consider a country’s or company’s ESG readiness as one of their evaluation criteria,” said Mr. Enggartiasto.
